I am sure that there have been times when you tried positive thinking, but it just does not work. You lose your job and trying to find something positive about it is just impossible. In positive thinking, it seems that you must deny the negative in the situation and that makes you feel like you are living a lie. But what if instead of positive thinking, you try positive focusing.
In positive focusing you acknowledge that the situation has both the negative and the positive sides to it, but you choose to focus on the positive. You must first accept that there is duality in the universe. For example, day and night, hot and cold, soft and hard, good and bad, etc. If you accept this premise then you must accept the fact that in every situation there is good and bad.
Once you accept this duality, you must believe that every situation had a good and a bad side to it. In positive focusing, you choose to find and focus on the good in the situation. Remember, whatever you focus on, your energy flows to that and it expands and multiplies.
Gratitude is a form of positive focusing. You focus on something good in your life and give thanks and in due time it will multiply. Positive focusing is intentionally choosing to focus on thoughts and things that empower you. This requires practice. With enough practice it can become habitual and you would be amazed at the results you achieved.
Stop complaining, which is negative focusing because complaining about something over and over again will bring more of that situation into your life; thus you will end up with more to be complaining about. Stop focusing on the problem and start focusing on the solution; focus on what you want not on what you do not want. With practice, it will become habitual.
Remember that there will always be problems in your life, but choose to concentrate on what is going right with your life. You acknowledge the problem but choose to focus on the solution. What you put your attention on will become your experience, so put your attention on the positive in your life.
Focus on the positive and become a possibility thinker and associate with positive uplifting people. Practice..Practice..Practice!
