How To Phrase Your Goal
Setting goal is essential to the achievement of any outcome you desire. But how do you set goal to assure its achievement? The wording of the goal statement is essential to the achievement of the stated goal.
Here’s how you phrase your goal statement:
- Phrase it as if it is already achieved. Do not phrase it in the future tense; it will only keep the goal out of reach. For example, “I give thanks for my perfect health” or “I am so grateful for my radiant health”. Do not say, “I will be healthy.” Remember that tomorrow never come and your point of power is always in the *Now*.
- Make sure that your goal statement is positive, excluding all negative words. The statement should reflect the end result you want to achieve. For example, ” I am at my ideal weight” instead of “I don’t want to be fat.” The first statement focus on the positive, while the second statement focus on the negative. Remember, what you focus on, you will attract.
- It should feel realistic to you. It should feel right to you. Don’t set goal that feels out of reach. If you are going to set goal that seems unattainable, you must first convince yourself into believing that it is attainable.
- Include yourself in the statement.
- Be precise and use words that convey the exact meaning you have in mind. The statement ” I am rich” or “I intend to be rich” is too general. Define what rich mean to you.
- Do not be limiting. Have some space for possibility that might be better. It is a good idea to add the statement, “this or something better for the highest good of all concern.”
- Your words should not convey any sense of lack. For example, in the statement ” I want to have one million dollars”, you are actually conveying to your mind that you want something that you don’t have. It would be better to say, “I see myself depositing a million dollar check into my bank account.”
- Do not use the word ‘want’. You only want things that you lack. It is better to use the word ‘have’.
- State your goal in term of end result. Do not worry yourself with the how-to.
- You should repeat your goal statement with excitement and enthusiasm.
- Repeat your goal statement as often as possible.
- Focus on one goal at a time.
It is important that you keep focusing on your goal. Focus on how you would feel if your goal has been accomplished. It is important that you visualize your goal. If you are not good at visualizing, you can use tool like the mindmovies to facilitate your visualization. See it. Hear it. Smell it. Feel it.
Last but not least, whenever you find yourself thinking of a contradictory thought, stop and instantly switch your focus back onto your goal.
“To achieve happiness, we should make certain that we are never without an important goal.” Earl Nightingale
