7 Steps To Lasting Change
I am sure that most of you know who Anthony Robbins is. He is one of the greatest motivational speakers of all time. In his program *The Edge*, he outlined seven steps that can lead you to lasting change.
Here are the steps:
-
- 1. Get disturbed enough that you feel compelled to change. Get disturbed enough that you say *no more*; you will not take it anymore. Expose yourself to the pain and confront it until you are compelled to make the necessary changes.
-
- 2. Make a real decision. Know what result you want. Know your purpose; why you want it. Decide to move toward what you want using the energy of being disturbed.
-
- 3. Write down massive action plan. Set a deadline for the accomplishment of the plan. Decide what you can do immediately. This will creates momentum. Tell someone who can help make you accountable. Do things that commit you. Don’t make excuses.
-
- 4. Discover beliefs that are holding you back and beliefs that will move you forward. Beliefs control behavior. Write down the beliefs that you use as reasons to not follow through, not take action. Write down the beliefs that move you to take action. As you believe so is it done unto you.
-
- 5. When you are learning to make changes, you will not be perfect the first time around. You need to make it fun. You need to set it up in a way that you will enjoy so you will continue with the plan. Set yourself up to win.
-
- 6. Take massive actions. Now is the time. Always do something to create momentum. Incantation is great. Massive actions create momentum.
-
- 7. Use the seventh power—power of environment, power of picking a peer group with higher standard. The life of most people is a reflection of the expectation of their peer group, family, friends, etc, whom they want love and attention from. So love your family and pick your peer group.
